Wellflux is a proprietary water soluble polymer which is used to reduce the apparent viscosity of heavy oils and bitumen by producing a dispersion. When mixed with heavy oil the Wellflux polymer coats dispersed oil droplets and prevents rapid coalescence. The result is a free flowing dispersion with dramatically lower viscosity and higher mobility.  As Wellflux is fully soluble in water, it can be separated using conventional methods.

Wellflux solutions are stable to temperatures up to 175⁰C, which makes it suitable for a variety of cold and thermal well servicing applications. The water based product is non-flammable, non-combustible making it safe to use at higher temperatures relative to hydrocarbon and aromatic based diluents and cleaners.

Flush and Kills
Wellflux provides an alternative to volatile solvents during flush and kill operations. Wellflux concentrate can be mixed with a customer’s hot water and used to flush tubing clean of bitumen deposits, allowing them to be subsequently pushed into the formation or circulated out of the wellbore. With the tubing now clear of obstructions the client may proceed with the efficient application of their kill fluid. While mobilizing bitumen deposits, Wellflux also water wets and cleans the tubing, which prevents messy drips and handling issues as it is pulled from the wellbore. This application has proven to save valuable time and has eliminated the HSE related issues and costs associated with historically applied aromatic solvents and diluents.
Instrumented Coil Installations
Wellflux can be used to assist in landing instrumented coil strings in SAGD producing wells. By mobilizing viscous heavy oil in the lateral section, the drag forces on the coil is significantly reduced, often allowing the string to reach its desired landing depth at a reduced installation time.
