Community Members Hit the Streets for Williston’s City Cleanup Day

The City of Williston kicked off its annual spring cleanup campaign on May 3rd to get the city streets in tip-top shape for the hot summer months.

“The city was getting really dirty. People just don’t seem to care – they throw garbage on the ground without a second thought,” says Gretchen Anderson, Environment & Regulatory Coordinator in Williston.

As an advocate for the environment, Anderson rallied up the SECURE troops in the local office to participate in the annual clean up – and the outcome was incredible.

“We had 20 employee volunteers picking up garbage and BBQing for other city volunteers. We were out from 10a.m. to 3p.m., sporting SECURE blue coveralls and socializing with our community,” says Anderson. The volunteers were assigned different sections of the city to clean up, and even tackled areas that weren’t assigned.

“As an organization committed to the environment, it only makes sense to participate in community events like this. We want to be known as an environmentally friendly company committed to doing things right; a company that cares about the environment, and this is a great way to show our commitment to that,” adds Anderson.

SECURE’s Williston team fed over 400 volunteer attendees and drew attention from local restaurant, Buffalo Wild Wings, who brought out food to the SECURE tent and gift certificates for volunteers. “It was a really well-received event, and nice to see so many businesses coming up to our tent just to say thank you,” says Christina Achtzener, Sales and Marketing Representative in Williston. “The town of Williston looks great!”
