We developed the Pembina Area Class I & II Oilfield Landfills with environmental and social considerations in mind. They were designed and built with best-in-class engineering practices to ensure the continued safety of those on site and of the surrounding environment.

Pembina is located 18 km west of Cynthia, Alberta and is one of two hazardous waste landfills located in Western Canada. This location provides our customers with safe and efficient disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous solid wastes that are generated through a variety of oil and gas operations, including drilling, spill response and cleanup, remediation and reclamation, and other dangerous oilfield wastes (DOW) in accordance with AEP regulations. Pembina landfill is approved to accept drilling waste, class I and II contaminated soils, sulphur contaminated soils, asbestos contaminated materials, various industrial wastes and Natural Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM).

This landfill was engineered and designed to exceed regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of those individuals on location and the continued health of the natural surrounding environment. The engineered liner system ensures that all wastes received is fully contained, encapsulated and monitored over the long-term life of the facility. This is accomplished through the combination of a compacted clay liner, HDPE liner, geocomposite and geosynthetic liners. All of which are complemented by excellent natural hydrogeologic conditions at the site.

The waste generator or waste generator representative is to complete the SECURE Application Form (SAF) before bringing product to a SECURE facility. The completed application will be returned by fax or email to the appropriate SECURE facility, along with the representative analytical data from an accredited lab. Ensure the SAF is complete, signed, dated and all supporting analytical documents are included. If you are having issues downloading the form, please try again with Internet Explorer.
