We've completed some of the largest abandonment, remediation and reclamation projects for pipelines and wells in Western Canada.

The Government of Alberta has recently announced the Site Rehabilitation Program to fund well, pipeline, and oil and gas site closure and reclamation work. This $1 billion program will be introduced in phases, with funding applications for the first phase starting on May 1, 2020.

The goals of this program are to:

  • Provide employment opportunities for Alberta’s specialized oil and gas labour force
  • Fast-track site abandonment and reclamation efforts
  • Produce a high volume of environmentally-significant work

Eligible activities include:

  • Closure work on inactive wells and pipelines
  • Environmental Site Assessments
  • Remediation
  • Reclamation

SECURE Services Supporting the Program

We have contracts and processes in place to apply for SRP Grants on behalf of the Licensee for the processing and disposal of waste generated by eligible activities under the program.

Landfill Disposal

  • Each landfill cell has a high-quality, multi-layer liner protection system and environmental monitoring programs
  • Class II facilities accept drilling waste, Class II contaminated soils, sulphur contaminated soils, asbestos contaminated materials and various non-hazardous industrial waste
  • Class I landfills are approved to accept drilling waste, class I and II contaminated soils, sulphur contaminated soils, asbestos contaminated materials, various industrial wastes and Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM)
  • SECURE accepts NORM at Alberta’s only AEP approved Class I landfill
