Building Relationships in Calgary and Lethbridge

SECURE’s Business Development, Regulatory and Land groups have been busy these last two months showing off SECURE’s community spirit in Calgary, Lethbridge and Sturgeon Lake.

This June, SECURE made a donation to sponsor Kids for Cancer at a local pub in Calgary. This small community has raised funds for the last few years to support the charity, and SECURE was an active advocate, sponsoring a charity golf tournament that ended up raising $18,000.00 in community donations for Kids for Cancer.

July was all about making positive relationships in the city of Lethbridge to support our recently acquired Heemskirk plant (SECURE Minerals). What better way to show our commitment to youth in our communities than by sponsoring the 2014 Junior Little League Canadian Championships? This was our first entry to support the Lethbridge community, and it’s been incredibly rewarding. The winning team from this event will go on to represent Canada at the Junior Little League World Series in the United States.

Then came our efforts to help out at Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation for Treaty Days. SECURE sponsored breakfast and participated in the Treaty Day parade, handing out candy to spectators along the route. It was after the parade when news came in that the BBQ for the event would not be making the trip… which would lead to lots of hungry people. So, SECURE stepped up and enlisted Ed Davis out of the Grande Prairie office to drive out the SECURE BBQ, where the team pitched in and cooked dinner for event-goers. Mark Hampson proved himself to be a great frozen meat separator, and Tarra Fournier came to the rescue by cleaning the BBQ after the event was over.
