Meet our senior leadership team:

Rene Amirault - Chief Executive Officer


Rene Amirault was appointed as the President and Chief Executive Officer of SECURE in March 2007 and was elected a director and appointed as Chairman of the Board in June 2007.

From 2006 to 2007, he was an independent businessman. From 2001 to 2006, he was the Vice President of Corporate Development of Tervita Corporation (formerly CCS Income Trust). Rene held various roles at Tervita Corporation from 1994 to 2006, including Vice President roles in Sales and Marketing, Business Development and Corporate Development. He was Vice President of Corporate Development of Tervita Corporation or its predecessor companies from 2001 to 2006, during which time his responsibilities included business development, acquisitions, strategic planning and investor relations. Rene has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry. He held various positions with Imperial Oil Ltd. from 1981 to 1994, including marketing, project management, finance and accounting capacities. Rene received a Certified General Accountant designation in 1984.

Allen Gransch - Chief Operating Officer


Allen Gransch joined SECURE in September 2007. From 2012 to 2017, Allen held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In September 2017, he was appointed EVP, Corporate Development. In April 2019, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer - Midstream. In July 2021, upon completion of SECURE's merger with Tervita, Allen further expanded his role as the Chief Operating Officer of both Midstream Infrastructure and Environmental Solutions operating segments.  

Prior to joining SECURE, Allen was a Senior Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers. From 1999 to 2007, Allen held various positions from Associate to Senior Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers located in Calgary, Alberta, Georgetown, Cayman Islands and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Allen is a Chartered Accountant and attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree and his Masters of Professional Accounting degree.

Chad Magus - Chief Financial Officer


Chad Magus was appointed Chief Financial Officer in September 2017. Chad joined SECURE in June 2014 and most recently served as SECURE’s Vice President of Corporate Finance.

Prior to joining SECURE, Chad spent over 10 years with an oil and gas exploration and production company in a variety of finance, accounting and financial reporting roles and prior thereto was a senior accountant with KPMG LLP. Chad is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan.


Corey Higham - Senior Vice President, Midstream Operations


Corey Higham has worked in senior leadership roles in Environment & Regulatory, Operations and Business Development with SECURE since July 2007. Since May 2020, Corey is currently serving as EVP of Midstream Infrastructure Operations which includes facility operations, corporate and field sales, engineering and construction and health, safety and regulatory affairs.

From 2004 to 2007, Corey held various roles at Tervita Corporation, including roles in environmental & regulatory and business development. Prior to Tervita, Corey worked for a private engineering consulting company from 1998 to 2004. He has 16 years of experience in the energy industry. Corey is a registered Professional Geoscientist and holds a Masters of Engineering from the University of Calgary.

Mike Mikuska - Senior Vice President, Commercial & Transportation


Mike Mikuska was appointed EVP, Commercial & Transportation with SECURE in September 2017. He brings extensive industry knowledge, experience and strategic leadership to his role at SECURE. Mike is responsible for the growth and development of SECURE's transportation and commercial business, increasing asset value and contributing to the safe and reliable Canadian transportation system of oil and gas production.

Prior to SECURE, Mike had various roles capacities at Plains Midstream Canada ULC and predecessors for 21 years, most recently he was the Vice President of Crude Supply & Transportation where he was responsible for crude oil supply gathering and distribution, pipeline logistics, pipeline development, trucking, rail, regulatory and tariffs, quality and optimization for Crude Oil and LPG. Mike has a Bachelor of Economics and has completed the Duke University and Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Programs.

Dave Engel - Senior Vice President, Landfill Solutions


Dave Engel has worked in senior leadership roles in Operations, Sales, Health & Safety, & Business Development with SECURE since September 2007. Dave currently serves as EVP, New Ventures overseeing all midstream infrastructure-related operations activity. 

From 2000 to 2007, Dave held various roles at Tervita (CCS), including roles in Environment & Regulatory, Project Development, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Business Development. Prior to Tervita, Dave worked for Newpark Environmental, Ensign Drilling, and Newalta. He has 20 years of experience in the energy industry. Dave has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary.



David Mattinson - Senior Vice President, Environmental Solutions


David Mattinson joined SECURE in April 2013 as EVP, OnSite Services. David held the position of President at Frontline Integrated Services which was acquired by SECURE in 2013 and became the Projects service line.

David is a professional engineer and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering. He has over 30 years of experience working on a multitude of projects including landfill construction, demolition, decommissioning and pipeline projects.

David's previous experience to President at Frontline Integrated Services includes President at Canfrac Sands. Prior to that, he was the President of HAZCO Environmental Services, a position he held for 20 years. David has worked throughout Western Canada, Central and South America.

James Anderson - Senior Vice President, Fluids Management

james-anderson-svp-fluids-managementJames Anderson was appointed as SVP of Fluids Management in June 2020. Since joining SECURE in 2011, James has held the position of VP of Drilling & Production Services.

Prior to joining SECURE, James was one of the founding partners of Alliance Energy Services and from 2009 to 2011 acted as the VP of Drilling Fluids at Marquis Alliance until the SECURE acquisition in 2011. From 1997 to 2009, James held various positions in the drilling services industry including roles as a Field Engineer, Technical Services, Operations, Technical Sales and VP Operations. James holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Lethbridge.



Rhonda Rudnitski - Vice President, Environment, Social and Governance (ESG)


Rhonda is responsible for evolving SECURE’s ESG strategy and integrating
it into all aspects of its business. This includes setting ESG goals and targets that will make SECURE’s business more sustainable by reducing risk, encouraging innovation, building business resilience, and identifying ESG related opportunities to enhance customer service. SECURE’s ESG strategy mandates the creation of opportunities to offer services that will help its customers reduce their environmental impact and to be an integral part of the energy transformation.

She has nearly 30 years of environmental industry experience. Prior to joining SECURE in 2021, she held positions with increasing scope and leadership responsibility at Tervita Corporation and Newalta Corporation. Within these organizations her portfolios have included: engineering, regulatory and compliance, health and safety, process safety management, closed sites/asset retirement, community relations, and indigenous relations. She has participated in various government created stakeholder groups that focused on updating existing regulations or developing new ones.

Prior to Newalta, she held various field-based operations and regulatory compliance positions at Waste Management Inc. Rhonda received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, completed the Occupational Health and Safety Certificate program from Ryerson University, and is a registered professional engineer.

Michael Parnetta - Vice President, People & Culture


Michael was appointed Vice President, People & Culture in May 2020 and is responsible for the effective execution and evolution of all aspects of people and culture related systems, including HR strategy, company culture and values, employee engagement, marketing, communications, and the ongoing support of SECURE’s dynamic business operations. With over 25 years’ experience, Michael ensures SECURE’s unique culture is a true competitive advantage for the business and a compelling employment proposition for the current and future workforce.

Prior to joining the company, Michael held various senior HR roles at Shell plc and Shell Canada Limited from 2002-2018. He led the HR function for Shell's commercial business across the Americas and in Canada for Downstream, Upstream as well as the Compensation and Policy function. Prior to his roles with Shell, Michael began his career with TransCanada Turbines, a joint venture company of TransCanada Pipelines and the Wood Group.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan with a double major in HR Management and Marketing and is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources.
