On June 20th the city of Calgary was declared in a state of local emergency after 100 mm of rain were forecasted to fall in the next two days, which caused both rivers running through the city to flood creating an overwhelming amount of damage to many Calgary communities. With homes being ruined in many areas including Beltline, Bonnybrook, Bowness, Bridgeland Industrial Area, Chinatown/Eau Claire, Cliff Bungalow, Deer Run, Discovery Ridge, Downtown/East Village, Elbow Park, Erlton, Inglewood, Hillhurst, Mission, Montgomery, Quarry Park, Rideau, Riverbend, Riverdale, Roxboro, Stanley Park/Elboya, Sunnyside, Victoria Park, Westmount and Windsor Park employees set out in their rubber boots to help residents of our community in need. Shortly after the initial flooding, SECURE sponsored a BBQ and sent out a cleanup team to help residents of High River.
