Every November, Team SECURE come together to raise funds, have discussions and bring awareness to men’s mental and physical health. Movember provides an important opportunity for us to break down stigmas and raise money for a life-saving cause. Though growing a mustache is a classic symbol of Movember, Team SECURE participates in many different ways including movement, hosting events and bake sales and providing opportunities to have conversations.

In 1985, Randy Harper owned a metals recycling facility in Red Deer, Alberta called Harper’s Metals. Over the next almost 40 years, Harper’s Metals would become HMI Industries, Tervita Corporation and now SECURE Metals Recycling. Throughout this evolution, there would be one familiar and very smiley face that remained dedicated to his work in Red Deer.

SECURE's summer student program is designed to provide an experiential learning opportunity for students to apply the skills they are acquiring during their degree within a team of dedicated professionals.
This year, 31 students were hired across various business units in Alberta and British Columbia for a four-month work term. For most of the students, this was their first time working in a corporate environment.

From July 9 – 18, people in Calgary dusted off their cowboy hats and boots to celebrate the return of the Calgary Stampede.
Although it was a different Stampede from other years, SECURE participated in building community spirit through its annual Stampede Charity Campaign. Over the past six years, ticket sales and sponsorship for the event has raised more than $1.5 million for various local charities.
